Gigi Hadid’s Baggy Wide-Leg Trousers Are A Stylish Alternative To Sweats - British Vogue

Unlike her grunge-loving sister Bella, Gigi Hadid prefers more polished wardrobe staples. She doesn't avoid baggy jeans and their ilk entirely, but she does favour a business-meets-casual style approach. 

Take the checked wide-leg trousers she wore this week for a post-work outing, for example. From a distance, Gigi's louche trousers – in uniform regulation grey – could be mistaken for sweatpants. But closer inspection reveals they are loose-fitting trousers, albeit a pair that offers the same comfort level as sweats, featuring a mid-high-rise buttoned waist, pleated darts and billowing wide legs that bunched neatly at her Moncler Genius 7 X Hiroshi Fujiwara Converse. 

Adding to the preppy effect, Gigi wore a grey long-sleeve polo shirt with a navy collar. And the collegiate vibe didn't stop there: her hair was scraped back in a schoolgirlish plait-ponytail, and she carried a Whole Foods tote bag over her shoulder. 

Hadid's back-to-work look was a departure from the athleisure wear that she and her fellow models have championed of late. Uggs worn with stretchy Lycra leggings and paired with thick socks has become the off-duty model uniform of choice for the 21st-century supers, elevated with It-bags and designer outerwear. 

Gigi is doubtless gearing up for the autumn/winter 2022 shows, she walked for Versace, Tod's, Proenza Schouler, Moschino and Coperni – among others – for spring/summer 2022, and will be in hot demand again this season.
