Creating cute outfits in the winter can sometimes be less than inspiring. As temperatures start to drop, we are all mentally preparing for those seemingly endless months of cold ahead and thinking about the best outfit ideas to spice up those winter doldrums, in order to make everyday dressing a cinch.
"I find that many clients usually opt for a very simple winter formula that consists of a sweater and jeans, so I usually try to look for pieces that will enhance this look and offer clients some variety on their base," stylist Allison Bornstein tells BAZAAR.com. "If this is your go-to, then I suggest trying to shop for pieces that have this same silhouette or that you can layer with your tried-and-true pieces. In addition, I will often suggest adding small additions to brighten up the look, like adding some jewelry and a belt to make it feel more styled."
Styling can truly make or break a look, and being able to work with all those necessary pieces in a way that doesn't read frumpy can be challenging. "Winter is all about layering, and layering gives us a great opportunity to include different colors, textures, and proportions," Bornstein says. "One of my favorite winter styling tips is layering a super-thin cashmere or cotton turtleneck under a cozy knit or a cotton button-down. It gives a nice sleekness to a cozy look while also adding some texture." Playing with texture is another easy element that adds depth to any look.
Of course, we can't talk about winter looks without mentioning outerwear. "I also LOVE coats, and in New York your coat is your best accessory and the one most people see," Bornstein explains. "I will often have a little more fun with my outerwear so I can spice up my simple look. I just got a great black shearling that I am excited about, because it will add texture, and I also just recommended a great dark green classic wool coat for a client who wanted a classic shape but with a twist."
Keep these tips in mind as you start scrolling below and get inspired with 30 winter outfit ideas from our favorite street style photos.

It's hard to believe that within our lifetimes, yoga was considered a pursuit solely for hippies and women, so much so that any participation from men was confined to that most cringe-inducing subset of "broga". Thankfully, the fitness trend cycle is fast-moving, and the ever-growing allure of a warrior pose for men has meant that a) we take pride in cohabiting the yoga studio and b) brands and studios have increasingly tailored to the demand with stylish, high-quality men's yoga clothes and accessories. Adrienne Everett is a yoga teacher whose passion for the pursuit has neatly aligned with this seismic shift. Starting her practice almost a decade ago as a means of seeking purpose, she quickly grew her skills on the mat to the point where she has now taken the leap from her corporate job in sales to commercialise her passion.
