Uniqlo Is Killing It With Its Gaming Collections Right Now

Uniqlo Is Killing It with Its Gaming Collections Right Now 1

Japanese clothing chain Uniqlo loves a good anime or video game shirt, and it's been absolutely killing it with its latest collections. Earlier this year, it launched the Fighting Game Legends line, which comprises tees inspired by both the Tekken and Street Fighter franchises. There are some fantastic designs, including a low-poly King from Tekken 2 which we reckon is incredible:

Those of you who play Street Fighter 6 can actually redeem some of these shirts in-game right now; all you need to do is login during the promotional period and claim the rewards from your inbox. Obviously, the shirts can only be worn by your World Tour avatar, but we reckon they look great:

And the fun doesn't end there: in April, the retailer will release a brand-new line of 40th Anniversary Capcom tees, including fan favourites like Final Fight, Resident Evil 4, Devil May Cry, and more. Check out these beauties:

If all that wasn't enough, the company's brought back some of its Metal Gear Solid designs from its archives, and you can find those shirts in most of its stores right now. So yeah, there's never really been a better time to expand your wardrobe with some great gaming tees, eh? Let's hope the PlayStation designs come back soon, too.

Uniqlo Chiikawa And Sanrio Characters Kids Shirts Appear In May

Uniqlo Japan revealed a new girls' apparel and shirts collection that will combine Sanrio characters with those from Nagano's manga series Chiikawa: Nanka Chiisakute Kawaii Yatsu. It will start selling these products in early May 2024.

The collection will consist of six half-sleeved UT graphic T-shirts and four Relaco shorts. Each item will combine the likes of Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll with Chiikawa and Hachiware. The sizes will be available from Kids 100 (shirt width of 15 inches) to Kids 160 (shirt width of 20 inches). All of them will have the same price tag of 990 yen (~$6.57) in Japan.

Here are the sample images for the crossover T-shirts:

Uniqlo had previously revealed multiple batches of apparel featuring Sanrio characters. In 2023 alone, the brand featured the franchise three times in March, August, and December. But while crossover merchandise between Sanrio and other anime or game franchises has appeared on other outlets, this will be the first time Uniqlo releases crossover apparel between the former and Chiikawa. The latter manga series has found popularity among Japanese social media users, and its second Spot the Difference puzzle book came out in October 2023.

The Chiikawa x Sanrio Characters Sweets Collection shirts will be available in Uniqlo stores from early May 2024.

Uniqlo Capcom T-Shirts Celebrate Classic Titles

Uniqlo is releasing a line of UT graphic t-shirts based on retro Capcom games. These shirts will appear in Uniqlo stores from March 25, 2024.

This collection is to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Capcom. The line-up of t-shirts have designs for:

  • Ghosts 'n Goblins (1985)
  • Mega Man (1987)
  • Final Fight (1989)
  • Street Fighter II (1991)
  • Resident Evil (1996)
  • Devil May Cry (2001)
  • Monster Hunter (2004)

There is also a Uniqlo t-shirt for the 40th anniversary of Capcom. This shirt has key characters from famous Capcom franchises. Aside from major characters in the above games, we can see characters like Morrigan from Darkstalkers, Phoenix Wright from Ace Attorney, Amaterasu in Okami, and Date Masamune in Sengoku Basara.

All of the shirts come in XS-4XL (Men's) and cost 1990 JPY ($13.25). Aside from giving information on the t-shirts, the Uniqlo website also has information on each game. Aside from the release date and genre, it also provides some information on the game's history and influence. For example, it describes Street Fighter II as a pioneer of the new fighting game genre. Incidentally, even though it lists Resident Evil (1996) as one of the games, the description and design are actually for Resident Evil 4: Remake. This game did not come out in 1996. It came out in 2023.

Aside from making t-shirts, Uniqlo will also make a game. These Uniqlo collaboration games will take inspiration from classic Capcom titles, with eight variations in total. You can give UT Adventure a try here. The game will also appear in arcade stores, with only 40 machines appearing around the world. More information will come out in the future about this.

The Uniqlo Capcom shirts will be available from March 25, 2024.
